Welcome to Bottle-Spot's 2016 Holiday Gift Guide series!
As we count down to the holidays, we'll be posting these guides to help you with gift ideas. Our last guide was all about gifts for the whiskey lover in your life, this time we're going to focus on cocktails!
Whether you're throwing a cocktail party, or just need a little relief and relaxation after fighting your way through the mall, cocktails are undeniably a big part of the holidays. We've put together the following suggestions to help you throw that killer holiday party, or check that last pesky relative off your shopping list.
Mint Julep Lip Scrub - $20
Stewart & Claire have become experts at the intersection between cocktails and beauty products. This lip scrub is flavoured like mint julep, but you can also find lip balms flavoured like a tiki drink, or even an old fashioned.
Death & Co: Modern Classic Cocktails - $26
No aspiring mixologist should be without this book. David Kaplan puts together an ode to the classic New York bar that contains as many stories as it does recipes. Count on finding something for all tastes here, including updated versions of all the classics.
Liquid Intelligence: The Art and Science of the Perfect Cocktail - $23
This James Beard award winning book is an in depth look at everything that goes into making consistently perfect cocktails. Be warned, Dave Arnold spares no effort in creating amazing drinks, including using liquid nitrogen, centrifuges, and whipping siphons. If you have a cocktail fanatic on your list or a foodie who has literally everything, this gift will be the highlight of their holidays.
James Scott Double Old Fashioned Crystal Drinking Glasses - $19
If you only have limited space for cocktail glassware, a classic old fashioned glass definitely deserves a spot. Perfect for cocktails, or enjoy whiskey neat, the thick walls of these glasses keep your hand from warming up your beverage, and the intricate crystal design gives whatever you’re drinking an air of sophistication and class. We like these 8oz glasses, which have a nice size and weight in your hands.
Hiware Thick Bottom Cocktail Mixing Glass - $22
Making and serving great cocktails is as much about the spectacle as it is about the finished product. If your audience is always going for stirred cocktails like a manhattan, an old fashioned, or a sazerac, these old fashioned style mixing glasses bring style and class to the cocktail making process.
OXO Steel Angled Measuring Jigger - $7
Sure, cocktail culture is all about cool glasses, beautiful drinks, and sharp dressers. That being said, there is nothing more important than being able to consistently reproduce fantastic cocktails whether it’s your first, or your fourth of the night. This measuring jigger helps you to pour consistently perfects amounts up to 2oz at a time. It’s also made of stainless steel, meaning it’s easy to clean and will hold up in the dishwasher.
iSi Gourmet Whip Plus, Stainless Steel Cream Whipper - $91
While these kitchen gadgets are handy for making whipped cream, or even homemade sodas, they also allow you to make some of the most unique flavoured liquors in no time at all. By charging any alcohol with nitrogen, you can extract flavours that would normally take months. Get ready for the best espresso martini you’ve ever had, or try something a little crazy, like jalapeño infused tequila. Make sure to pick up some CO2 and N2O chargers as well!
