Q: Who can use Bottle-Spot.com?
Anyone who is of legal drinking age (21 in the united states), and complies with all local, state, federal and other laws.
Q: What are your fees?
Zero. Bottle-Spot.com does not collect commission on sales or charge listing fees.
Q: How do I create a listing?
Scroll to the very top of the page. If you are registered, click to the left of the search bar is a button that says Create a Listing. If you are not registered, click here to register for free and then follow the previous instructions.
Q: How do I create an auction?
The process is the same as creating a classified, but first you must become a verified user. Once you do you can post up to 10 auctions at any time.
Q: How do I become a verified user?
Becoming verified is a simple process of filling out this form so we can confirm you are who you say you are. Once that's done you can post auctions, and you'll be identified as verified with a special badge, letting other users know you're trustworthy.
Q: I have contacted a poster and not received a response.
If you have not gotten a response in a reasonable period of time, you can flag the listing as unresponsive and it will be removed from the site.
Q: I have created/update a listing and do not see it, what should I do?
Be patient. For performance reasons, the listings pages are only updated every few minutes. If it has been more than an hour and you do not see your listing, please contact us as your listing may have been trapped in our spam filters.
Q: How do I completely remove a listing?
There is no way to completely remove a listing, but you can mark your item as sold to deactivate it.
Q: I do not see the CAPTCHA and cannot send a message?
Please ensure you do not have security software or ad removal software running while browsing BottleSpot. Software such as AdBlock may cause certain pages to fail to load correctly. If you are using Internet Explorer 6.0 please upgrade to a newer browser.
Q: Can you tell me if an item is still available/wanted?
Please contact the poster directly. If they do not respond please flag the listing as unresponsive. BottleSpot does not get involved in transactions.
Q: Can you help me contact a poster?
Please use the built in tool for contacting a poster.
Q: What is the correct section for my item?
There are multiple categories for listings. If you feel your item doesn't fit into one of the existing categories, please contact us and let us know. We are happy to add new categories!
Q: Can BottleSpot help me conduct a transaction?
BottleSpot is purely a service provider that allows enthusiasts and dealers to find and list items. As such, BottleSpot can not and will not be a party in transactions. It is the sole responsibility of all parties involved to conduct safe and legal transactions.
Q: Can BottleSpot contact a poster for me or provide me with information about a user?
Q: How can I ensure transactions are conducted legally?
Because alcohol laws are exceedingly complex, and can vary even by city or town, we advise our users to become familiar with the laws in your area.
Q: What should I do if I suspect a listing is a scam?
Please flag the listing as "scam", this will remove the listing from the site. Please contact us with a link to the listing so we can remove the listing.
Q: How do I avoid scams?Follow these common sense rules to help avoid getting scammed:
- Dealing locally isn't always feasible, but it will help you avoid most scams,
- Never use "friends and family" as a payment method via Paypal. They will never help you in the case of a scam if you use this method. Always offer to pay the 3% fee; if the seller does not accept, do not proceed with the transaction.
- Consider dealing with Verified parties - they will have a 'Verified' badge on each of their listings. While this is not a guarantee, Verified parties have been vetted by Bottle-Spot.
- Always ensure money for payments made via on online pay service (ie PayPal) draw money from a credit card or your bank account. If the pay service won't help you, your credit company or banking institute may.
- Never send Cashiers Checks or Money Orders to sellers.
- Never wire money via Western Union, Moneygram, or other wire services.
- Never accept Cashiers Checks or Money Orders as they can be easily faked.
- Never give out financial information.
- If a deal is too good to be true, it probably is!
- Bottle-Spot is not involved in any transaction, we do not handle payments, guarantee transactions, provide escrow services, or offer protection or certification
Q: What should I do if I've been scammed?
Please do the following:
- Notify us immediately so we can ban the user, remove their listings and notify others who may have been scammed.
- Contact your local police department via their non-emergency number
- File a report via the Internet Fraud Complaint Center
Q: Can BottleSpot help if I've been scammed?We take every precaution to prevent scammers from using the site, and are very diligent about patrolling the site for known scammers. Once you've been scammed we will offer any help we possibly can, but in many situations this is unfortunately limited.
You are the best resource to prevent and stop scammers. Please take the steps listed previously if you are the victim of a scam. Also, please refer to our tips and heed the warnings on the site on how to prevent getting scammed.

Q: Why was my listing flagged?
Flagging is a result of peer review. Numerous users of the site must flag a listing before it is deactivated. Please refer to the following FAQ answers for explanation of what rules apply to each flagging rule.
Q: My listing was incorrectly flagged, can BottleSpot reinstate my listing?
BottleSpot cannot reinstate your listing. Since listing is always free, please simply relist your item.
Q: My listing has been flagged several times, what should I do?
Please address any issues with your listing as defined in the flagging rules below. If it continues to be repeatedly flagged, please stop creating the listing or usage of the site may be suspended.
Q: I am no longer able to create listings, why is this?
Your privileges may have been removed as a result of repeatedly be flagged.
Q: What is spamming?
Spamming includes but is not limited to listings that do not pertain to the subject matter of the site, posting the same material in more than one category, and posting the same material in more than one location. The site is designed to allow searching across local, state, the entire country. DO NOT list items in more than one location.
Q: What are inflammatory listings?
Inflammatory listings include but are not limited to listings directly addressing an individual or group of persons, listings that use profanity, or are not goods posted in the spirit of this site.
Q: Why was my listing moved to a different category?
Your item may be moved to a different category if several users flag it and move it to a new category.
Q: Why was my item flagged?
The users of this site control which items are removed. This site is intended for specific classified listings. If your item is repeatedly flagged, please consider listing it on a site that was designed for that type of item.
Q: My listing is not appearing, why is this?
We have a number of filters that prevent listings from appearing on the site. Attempting to SPAM the site or using profanity are the most likely causes of a listing not appearing.
Q: Do I need to pay to create a listing or an account?
No. Creating listings is and always will be free, and it’s free to create an account as well!
